Mt Eryanping

Chukou Nature Center

Originally a Taisugar Farm of Taiwan Sugar Corporation, the site has been turned into a landscape of ecological afforestation and a relay station for tree transplantation. In 2004, Chiayi Forest District Office established the Tree Bank and Forest Ecological Park in Center. By accepting old trees of commemorative value from different places to be transplanted in the Center instead of being cut down, the Center provides old trees and rare tree species with a settling space, while also achieving the purpose of a green park and sustainable operation. The Center is also staffed with teachers specializing in environmental education, to provide outdoor group teaching to various junior high and elementary school students. The forest ecology forms a green energy field for the whole family to get in touch with nature.

Mt Eryanping

Mt. Eryanping is situated in front of the Alishan Mountain Range. When the sky is clear, the mountain offers a panoramic view overlooking the Main Peak, South Peak and North Peak of Yushan on the east side and Budai Port, Jianan Plain, Renyitan Reservoir and Lantan Reservoir on the west side. With a telescope, the Kaohsiung 85 Building can also be seen to the south. To the north, there is the Taichung Base Station. The Eryan Trail with stone steps also attracts a large number of tourists by it's reputation.

Guanghua Community (Dingbenzai): "Wu Xing San Gu"

Guanghua Community, a world-famous town known for it's eco-tourism, is reputed as a Shangri-La. The rare "Wu Xing San Gu" (literally meaning "five stars and three heritages" )keeps visitors amazed; attractions include: view of the stars, Mycena chlorphos (neon green mushrooms), fireflies, white-faced flying squirrels (eyes reflecting light) and Onychostoma barbatula (scales reflecting light in the water), besides the old trees in Mt. Niu (Cattle Mountain), an ancient temple dedicated to the Deity of Land, and a century-old house. With it's rich and diverse plant ecology, as well as the successful merging of the villagers' rising awareness of conserving natural resources and the humanistic environment, Guanghua Community has made it's way onto the recommended list by both foreign and domestic travel experts.

Mt. Dadong sunrise view

Located within the Fenqi Lake Scenic Area, Mt. Dadong has an elevation of 1,976 meters above sea level. The loop trail is about five kilometers long, with the two branches interconnected to the main trail, The sunrise view on Mt. Dadong is quite different from that of Alishan. In particular, Mt. Dadong's sunrise lasts as long as three minutes. The sunrise view pavilion on top of the mountain commands a panoramic view, embracing the extremely beautiful scenery of Taiwan. It includes the peaks of Yushan to the east; Nantou hills and Jianan Plain to the west; Zengwen Reservoir and Guangshan to the south; and Large Mt. Ta, Small Mt. Ta and Laiji to the north. Mt. Dadong is must-visit for tourists.
