Sandimen Art Village
The glass beads are well-made and sophisticated traditional aboriginal handicrafts. In addition, clay pots which symbolize status, plus rustic and vigorous woodcarvings, are found in the art village. Every piece here displays the creative energy of the Paiwan and Rukai.
Dragonfly Bead Art Studio
Established in 1983 and specializing in glass-bead design, the lovely colors of the beads here have different symbolic meanings. The restaurant inside the studio provides traditional Paiwan food.
Timur Traditional Life Crafts Park
This park is a major site for Sandimen Township's festivities. The entrance of the park is a piece of public art called 'Xia Lu De Jia" (fawn's home). It was designed and produced by Sakuliu, a Paiwan art master. The design of the Life Theater Plaza in the center of he park embodies Paiwan's beliefs and religious rituals. In addition, columns for ancestral spirits and stoves are also set in the park. The columns symbolize father s passing down culture and customs from generation to generation, while the stoves symbolize mothers and a bumper harvest.
Qingye Tribe (Talamakau)
The only Rukai village located in Sandimen Township, the aborigines in Talamakau promote unique art and culture by featuring the Cross Street of Art. Tribal myths are painted on enclosing walls and fences of houses on the intersections. Hunting families painted bears, Reeves's muntjacs and wild deer to symbolize their way of life.
