The Pine Garden
Shinchen Church
Shinchen Church was built on the site of a Japanese shrine in 1956. Two religions merged due to the history. The long stained glass windows and the walls are covered with vines on this charming church.
The Pine Garden
The Pine Garden was built around 1943. It has the high ground advantage for the Japanese military command post in the Japanese colonial period. In recent years, the re-use of space has made the place full of history and artistic atmosphere.
Railway Cultural Park
The park used to be city hall during the Japaneses colonial era. After that, it became a Railway Hospital, Railway Work Station and Railway Police Segment and dormitories. After decades of wind and rain it has still been maintained in full. Today, it belongs to one of Hualien County historic buildings and is open to visitors.
Gong Tian Temple
Gong Tian Temple is mainly used to worship the Goddess Matsu. The temple is more than 5,000 square feet, with a massive temple structure on top of it. It is the largest temple in Hualien City. The corridors of the temple are decorated meticulously. What a gorgeous temple!
Ji'an Keishin
Ji' an keishin usd to be the "Yoshino Shrine" during the Japanese colonial ear. Not only it was the center of religion, it also had medical, teaching, funeral services. It had been well maintained and is now rated as a third grade historical building in Hualien.
Shenan Temple
This busy Taoist temple is dedicated to the Heavenly Queen Mother. During the three main ceremonies, believers flock from all over Taiwan. Lantern Festival is held here every year with fun games and riddles for people. It is full of local charisma.
