Kenting National Forest Recreation Area

Kenting National Park includes both land areas and sea areas. With it's special terrain, abundant plant and animal species, and distinct local customs, Kenting is a natural museum for conservation, research, and environmental education, and a popular domestic travel destination as well.

Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

This woodland includes tropical monsoon forest. Many tropical plant and tree species can be found here, such as acacia, Taiwan elm, and mahogany. The 25m-high Shuangliu Waterfall is behind the White Trunk Forest. The waterfall spreads like a fan, and is an excellent place for hiking.

Jialeshui Scenic Area

Jialeshui's original name was Jialuoshui, meaning "waterfall." The scenic area faces the Pacific Ocean and long-term wind and wave erosion has shaped the area's sandstone and coral reefs into strange and amazing shapes, among them Sea Turtle Rock, Frog, Rock, Rabbit Rock, Ball Rock, Square Rock, and Chessboard Rock.

Sheding National Park

Located in Hengchun Township, Sheding Natural Park is a flat-topped hill with the most important terraced-limestion Terrain in Kenting National Park. The shape of trees here is distinctive becuase of the strong northeast monsoon; they have become "fongjianshu," meaning" wind-sheared trees." The park also protects a mixed landscape of tropical rain forest, monsoon forest, and Diospyros forests.

Shadao Ecological Protected Area

Located at the 39km marker on the coastal highway, Shadao Ecological Protected Area is the only shell-sand beach in Taiwan, making it a priceless resource. It is named Shadao("sand island") because the sand of the beach piles up like an small island. The area is about 3 square hectares; it is the smallest protected ecological area in Kenting National Park.

Nanrenshan Ecological Protected Area

Nanrenshan is a natural tropical rain forest, and one of the few remaining unspoiled low altitude primeval forests in Taiwan. In addition to various kinds of terrain such as hills, valleys, streams, and grasslands, the protected area also has rich ecosystems which occur because of the great amount of monsoon rain that falls in the area. Before entering the protected area, permit applications must be submitted to Kenting National Park Headquarters.

Transportation

Kenting National Forest Recreation Area

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Taiwan Highway 26, then follow the sign to the left to the archway of Kenting Forest Recreation Area. Drive along the road to the parking lot.

Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Fonggang then turn left and follow Taiwan Highway 9 eastward until you see the sign for Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area.

Jialeshui Scenic Area

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Taiwan Highway 26, turn left at County Highway 200, turn right at County Highway 200-Jia, and rejoin Taiwan Highway 26 northward along the coast to reach the scenic area.

Sheding National Park

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Taiwan Highway 26, then turn left onto Township Road 165.

Shadao Ecological Protected Area

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Taiwan Highway 26. The protected area is right beside the highway.

Nanrenshan Ecological Protected Area

Take Taiwan Highway 1 south to Taiwan Highway 26, then turn left at County Highway 200 and turn right at the 20.5km marker.
