Mount Lilong Nature Trail

Located in Fonggang, Mount Lilong is actually a small mountain range that can be divided into northern and southern sections. This mountain has a sublime reputation in south Taiwan's hiking community, and is known as one of Taiwan's top 100 intermediate-altitude peaks. Visitors who manage to climb to the top can enjoy great views of the Hengchun Peninsula and even as far as the island of Little Liuqiu.

Fongchueisha

Fongchueisha is located near the 48km marker on the coast highway. In the winter, sand and small stones are blown by the northeast monsoon from the cliff slope to cliff top, producing this unique and distinct wind erosion and deposition phenomenon, which transforms the beach and sometimes even covers the highway.

Chuhuo

Chuhuo, a place where natural gases seep up to the surface and burn, is located outside Hengchun's town walls. The terrain here is made up of a special volcanic mud in which underground apertures are filled with natural gas. When the gas escapes it ignites, creating a very special landscape.

Longkeng Ecological Protected Area

This protected area has a continuous skirt of coral reefs and a landscape of slumping cliffs caused by the impact of waves. Various Hengchun Peninsula tree species can be found here, including coast oak, Alexandrian laurel, Champereia manillana, and the rare Vernonia maritima Merr. Visitors must submit applications in advance to Kenting National Park Headquarters before they can enter Longkeng Ecological Protected Area.

Maobitou

Located at the junction of the Taiwan Strait and the Bashi Channel, Maobitou's slumping cliff, potholes, reef pillars, and inter-layered cave landscapes are a natural classroom for those interested in learning about different terrains. Maobitou, which means "cat's nose," gets it's name from a protruding reef rock shaped like a squatting cat.

Longluan Lake

The lake was originally a low-lying wetland whose size changed from one season to the next, sometimes flooding neighboring farms. In 1948, the government enlarged the lake in order to create a stable reservoir. The lake is now a resting station for bird s migrating south, making it a travel destination with profound ecological lessons.
