Taiwan Orchid Plantation
Jingliao Old Street / Wumile Community
Visitors can see traditional houses on the Jingliao Old Street. Molin Cultural Exhibition Hall is itself a Siheyuan or Chinese quadrangles. The Huang Family Mansion, built in 1928,adopts the Baroque style. There are four words, "Li Yuan Yan Pai," carved over the gate. The Huang Family Mansion now is the last building built during the Japanese Colonial Period in Houbi. The documentary, Let it Be(Wumile), make Jinaliao Old Street become a popular tourist attraction.
Jingliao Catholic Church
Gottfried Boehm, the Pritzker Architecture Prize winner and German architect, designed the Church, which was also his first oversea project. The Church is comprised of four buildings with a pyramid look decorated with the figures of chicken, dove, cross and crown. Boehm found his inspiration in the haystack he often saw in the rural part of Taiwan. The Church demonstrates a combination of elements drawn from the West and the East.
Ruan Family Mansion
Over two-hundred years old, the Ruan Family Mansion is a typical Minnan Style house. Without using a single nail, the house employs walls are decorated with beautiful ornaments and carvings.
Houbi Station
Houbi Station is the northernmost railway station of the Tainan City. Built in 1902 and reconstructed in 1943, it is a wooden building covered with clapboards; the base uses pebbles. Houbi Station is one among the other several wooden railway stations in Twain built during the Japanese Colonial Period.
Sunlight Stone Museum
The collection in Sunlight Stone Museum features six themes: ice age, dinosaurs, fossils, stones minerals, fluorescent minerals. Don't miss it!
Siaonanhai Scenic Area
Siaonanhai, comprised of Shangjiadongbi and Jiangjunbi, is also called Yongan Reservoir. Siaonanhai locates in between Baihe District and Houbi District. Sjaonanhai also is part of Chianan irrigation system. Putuo Temple, worshiping the Goddess of Mercy, is beside the lake. The lake, surrounded by trees, makes a very beautiful and tranquil scene here. Visitors can tour the lake via Siaonanhai Circular Bicycle Tracks.
Togou Community Association of Local Cultural Development
Tugou Community devotes it's efforts to retrieving the spirit and simplicity of the old days and reshaping the Community with culture, arts and traditions. The Association hopes that more people will come and appreciate the beauty of Tugou Community.
Taian Temple
Mazu, or the Queen of Heaven, is enshrined in Taian Temple. Sometimes, She is also called "Jiadong Ma."
Taiwan Orchid Plantation
It is one of the key municipal projects of Tainan City. Approved by the Council of Agriculture, the Plantation is an agricultural park left in the charge of the local government agencies. There are Administration Center, International Exhibition, and Orchid Park.
TaiSugar Wushulin Recreation Park
After years of closure, the TaiSugar Wushulin Station, with the help of Sinying Sugar Refinery and Tainan National University of the Arts, undergoes repair and reopens to the public. The trains, once transported sugarcanes, now give visitors a ride around in the Station. The TaiSugar Wushulin Station makes a special place, as it combines park and exhibition hall together.
