Liyu Lake Scenic Area, Camp Site

Liyu Lake is located in Chinan Village of Shoufeng Township. The lakeside footpath is good for strolling along the lake bank or round the lake biking to absorb phytoncide. Once can also cruise the lake on a light boat, picnic or camp by the lake to enjoy it to the fullest.

Aquaculture Breeding and Cultivation Institute

The Aquaculture Breeding and Cultivation Institute at the north of the lake educates visitors about aquaculture and displays fish ecology.

Chinan Forest Recreation Area

In Chinan Forest Recreation Area,old photos,logging facilities and multimedia such as slideshows are displayed in the forestry museum. The railway track that passes through the forest offers the only mini train capable of carrying passengers.

Laoxi Riverside Park (Baibaoxi Bicycle Trail)

The Baibaoxi Bicycle Trail is 7.3 km long, starting from Liyu Lake Scenic Area, passing through Chinan Forest Recreation Area and Camp Site, Laoxi, until Baibaoxi Water Eco-Classroom. The water of Baibao Creek is clear all year round and eco life is diverse. Perfect place for cooling off in summertime.

Provincial Highway No. 9

National Dong Hwa University

Dong Hwa University along Provincial highway No. 9, with a campus covering 264 ha of land, is the first integrated national university in Eastern Taiwan. The architectural style of the buildings on campus gives the feeling of a garden villa; the peaceful environment and lush green grass might even make you feel like you are in a different country. Ring-necked Pheasants are the mascot of this university, and are often seen on campus during dusk and dawn as they search for food.

Fengtian Immigrants' Village

The Fengtian Immigrant Village is one of the three major immigrant villages in Hualien from the Japanese occupation and is now called Fengtian Community. Among them, Fengli Village has been kept most intact and the Shoufeng Culture & History Hall and Bilian Temple are reminiscent of Japan. After the Japanese, Hakka immigrants arrived and developed a new culture. A jade mining boom for 'Fengtian Jade,' a soft jade, took place here until 1970s.

Lichuan Aquafarm

Lichuan Aquafarm is a famous freshwater fish hatchery. Home to the legendary Golden Clam, the Aquafarm is founded by Mr. Chai You-Lin, and is reputable for ecology, fine cuisine and fun activities.

Promised Land Resort

Once voted one of the "100 Hotels+Resorts", Promised Land Resort is built in Spanish style and the landscaping and lagoon cottages give you an exotic Venice sensation. It took three years for restoration at Productive Valley Nature Park here and it offers a place whee travelers can become one with nature while on holiday.

The Fenghua Zaixian Hall (Hall of "the return of glory and glamour") presents authentic Hakka culture. Visitors can participate in many activities, such as salted clams making, biscuits & bread baking, clay DIY, etc. and taste the healthy meals made of organic fruits and vegetables. Indeed an ideal attraction on Provincial highway No.11-Line C

Mizhan Old Road

The Mizhan Old Road was once the path which connected the Donghai Coast residents, and this road is over a hundred years old. This road stars at Mixian Elementary School and ends at the Shuilian Tribal Village at the Donghai Coast. When looking down from the sea cliffs, it is possible to see the Huadong Valley and Hualien River bed from a bird's point of view. This is a new popular hiking route.
