Shihai Grassland

Introduction

The Shuangliou Nature Center situates in Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area. Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area has tropical monsoon rainforest which can be only seen in southern Taiwan. The whole recreation area is full of abundant plants that provides animals and ideal environment to live. Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area is a good place to go mountain climbing or hiking where the visitors can enjoy a forest bath while being surrounded by butterflies and birds.

Environmental Education Theme

The geological structure in this area is mostly sub-metamorphic rocks of Miocene strata Lushan layers. With the altitude from about 150~650 meters, visitors can see tropical rainforest, subtropical rainforest, tropical monsoon rainforest and warm temperature forest in this recreation area. Aquatic insects, plankton, butterflies and birds can be seen because of the steady and clear water in this area. The environmental education curriculum is designed based on the abounding ecological resources in Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area, where a perfect place for parents and children to understand ecology.
