Taitung Forest Park

The 280-hectare Taitung Forest Park at the end of Jhongshan Road is nicknamed "Black Forest" by Taitung residents for it's immense dark beefwood trees. In the woods lies a serene lake fed by the gushing spring at the estuary of Beinan Creek, called Pipa (Chinese lute)Lake, because it has the shape of two connected water bodies, a small one and a large one. The scenic Pipa Lake is a habitat of aquatic animals and plants, and by the lake re a viewing platform and a cabin that overlooks the waterfowl. Visitors may enjoy the lake view on either bike routes or slat walks.

Carp Hill

Shaped like crap, Liyu (crap) Mountain is an isolated 75-meter-high hill on Taitung Plain. Despite the insignificant altitude, it offers a great view overlooking downtown Taitung City. The thick woods make it the largest green space in the City. It is a popular place for morning exercise for locals, who stretch and do moves on wel-developed trails at the back. At the foot of the hill, the Liyu Mountain Park, Dragon-Phoenix Temple, Dragon-Phoenix Pagoda, and the Martyrs Shrine are attractions of this 22-hectare scenic area. The 8-story octagonal pagoda is a distinctive landmark of Liyu Mountain, Slat coffins and relics of the Neolithic Beinan Culture, discovered when the Pagoda was built, are displayed in the pagoda.

Seashore Park

The Seashore Park at the end of Datong, Road contains a long gravel beach and green mountains. In the park's plaza is Baosang Pavilion, whose staircase winds in Greek-style, functioning as an excellent spot to overlook the sea. Many creative art fixtures, a landscape featuring coconut trees and pavilion, fountains, stone and wooden benches are found here. The Man Hall, a traditional boathouse and a gift from Taitung's sister city in Palau, and the works by modern artists fill the air with romance. A bike trail stretches by 3 kilometers from Baosang Pavilion to Linhai Road near the estuary of Taiping River, where a landscape construction facilitates bird and wave watching. Bikers can also cross the Liushuei Suspension Bridge to reach Taitung Forest Park.

Fugang Fish Harbor

Situated at the northern estuary of Beinan Creek, Fugang is a major fish distribution center as well as a portal for offshore fishing, whale watching and access to Lanyu and Green Island. It's jetty wall is decorated with mosaic relief of various fish. Green Island and the coastal Landscape of Siaoyeliou can be seen on the bank. The harbor also functions as a tourist fish market. Around 8:30am, the area would suddenly bustle with shouts coming from the activity center of the fishermen's union.At this time, fishermen, who generally leave the shore in early mornings and return at around 7am, are ready to sell their catch for the day and fill the air with vitality. Seafood lovers can purchase fish and have sellers cook and serve the dish on the spot.

Taitung Railway Art Village

As traffic increases after the completion of the South Link Railroad, a new Taitung Railway Station was built and the old one become obsolete. To preserve the 80-year history and memory of the old railway, the Railway Art Village was born to preserve the related details, such as the last turntable loop in Taiwan, the old Guanghua cars, the old tracks corridor. The original look reserved here is never to be missed by railroad fans and photography lovers.
