Dexing Community (Xinjizhuang)

Chiayi Carbon Reducing Eco Park

Located next to the Zhecheng Culture Park of Suantou Sugar Refinery, the Chiayi Carbon Reducing Eco Park was converted from an idle warehouse into an exhibition venue which comprises six areas dedicated to various themes: eco-multimedia, water environment, air pollution prevention, recycled furniture, Giant Tree Theater and eco-friendly living. The park not only meets the needs for environment protection and education, but also offers schools a great option of excursions or environmental eduction. Beyond a simulated  course of Puzi River that stretches through the park outside the exhibition venue, picturesque delights are available at the neighboring Zhecheng Culture Park, the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum and an artificial wetland around Jieshou Bridge. Moreover, recycled furniture auctions take place in the park on the last Saturday of each month.

Peitian Temple

The Peitian Temple is a 330-year-old county-designated historic site inauguratedin 1687 (the 26th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty) to attract a growing number of followers. Over time, Puzijiao Street emerged around the temple as the predecessor of the present Puzi market. Not only is Peitian Templeacclaimed by photographers and craftsmen for it's architectural style, but it also houses the country's only lantern received from an emperor, giver to navy admiral Wang Delu by Emperor Jiaqing as invitation to participate in the palace lantern festival celebrations. The prized lantern has been displayed in the Peitian Temple ever since it was moved there from the admiral's house in 1815.

Meiling Fine Arts Museum

In memory of Wu Mei-ling's lifetime contributions to arts education, the Meiling Fine Arts Museum was founded in 1998 and comprises exhibition halls, art studios and storage rooms, With paintings, photography, sculptures and pottery works constantly on display, the museum is a mecca for arts and painting enthusiasts.

Dexing Community (Xinhizhuang)

In a collective effort, people from Xiashuangxi Village of Liujiao Township were relocated to Dexing Community, which is characterized by maze-like, chessboard-style street arrangement as well as the nationally famed Kanglang Brooms made from the leaves of the Formosan Date Palm. By passing down the heritage of Kanglang Broom craft to their children, community residents have managed to present polished, chic accessories that breathe life into the traditional industry.
