Recreation zone at the Taroko Gorge

Taroko National Park Headquarters

The Tarako National Park Headquarters is the first place tourists interact with at canyon.The large outdoor activity space and natural scenery is perfect for leisure walks.

Fushi Village

At the mouth of gorge is Fushi Village, a village primarily inhabited by the Taroko(Truku)tribe. The ruins behind the village belong to the Neolithic cultural age.

Shakadang and Dali Datong Trail

The Shakadang Trail combines the beauty of clear blue streams with white marble paths; Tourists may also challenge the Dali Datong Trail and pay a visit to tribes that have remained isolated from the rest of the world.

Changchun Shire (Eternal Spring Shrine)

With white waterfalls nearby and an elegantly designed classical shrine, the Eternal Spring Shrine, Eternal Spring Shrine(Changchun Shrine) is a well-known landmark of the Central Cross-Island Highway. Walking along the paths around the Shrine from high above to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the gorge afar as well as the twists and turns of Liwu River, one will certainly be amazed by the extraordinary view. The Qingshui Cliffs right outside the entrance of the gorge are something not to be missed. The expansive feeling one gets from gazing at the magnificence of the mountains and the ocean fills one with profound thoughts.

Tianxiang Recreation Zone

Buluowan Recreation Area

Buluowan Recreation Area provides food, lodging, seminars, as well as artistic works of the Taroko (Truku) tribe. come here between March and May to enjoy the blooming of the Formosa Lily as it refreshes and fills the canyon with romance.

Yanzikou (Swallow Grotto)

The scenery between Yanzikou and Jiuqudong is exceptionally spectacular and renowned. The 30 centimeters wide path Zhuilu Old Road in between, also known as "Sky Trail", was a vital passage from the Taroko(Truku)tribe to other tribes in the past.

Lushui Heliu Trail

With beautiful scenery and rich ecosystem, Lushui Trail, the shortest self-guided interpretive trail of Taroko National Park, is suitable for all ages. Located at the end of Lushui Trail, Heliu is the eastern starting point of the Lushui Heliu Trail, and is also the only camping area in Taroko National Park currently.

Tianxiang Scenic Area, Xiangde Temple

In front of the hall of the Xiangde Temple is a vast platform, where visitors can have a good view of statue of Guan yin (Bodhisattva), Tianfeng Pagoda, statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and the Grand Hall. Immerse yourself in the Buddhist vibe.

Meiyuan Zhucun Trail

The sight of Taosai valley can be viewed from the Meiyuan Jhucun Trail. Meiyuan and Jhucun are two isolated villages, composed mostly of the construction workers of the Central Cross-Island Highway. They sustain themselves by growing fruits and this trail is their only access to the outside world.

Mt. Hehuan Recreation Zone

Guanyuan Yunhai(sea of cloud at Guanyuan)

Mt. Hehuan Recreation Zone is located at the junction between Nantou and Hualien, and is at the right altitude to admire sea of cloud. The sea of cloud at Guanyuan is famous, and if you are lucky, you can witness the Qilai North Peak surrounded by magnificent sea of cloud. This place is also great to visit in the summer for it's cooler temperature.

Dayuling(Dayu Peak)

Dayuling is located at the junction between Taichung, Nantou, and Hualien, and is a place where mountain vegetables are collected and distributed.

Wuling(Wu Peak)

The highest point of the highways in Taiwan is at Wuling. Here you can gaze far and wide at the grassy slopes of Mt. Qilai and Mt. Hehuan; if the weather permits, it is possible to see Southern Cross between April and June. When it snows on Mt. Hehuan, Wuling becomes a silvery-white world and earned the name "Silver Saddle."
