Hakka Cultural Museum & Liudui Zhongyi Temple
In Hakka architecture, "Huo Fang" means a house where a family lives together. The design reflects the importance of family to Hakka people. It has three main forms: Shuangtang Houses (Double Hall Houses), Wei House (Surrounded House), and Weilong House (Dragon House). The Hakka Cultural Museum is an example of Weilong House design. Liudui Zhongyi Temple, close to the museum, hots a religious ceremony every spring and fall as well as the annual Liudu Sport Games. These events are important to Hakka people in the Liudui region because they symbolize the continuity of Liudui's protection of the homeland. In addition; a village parade commemorating loyal souls is held around the same time as the spring ceremony.
Neipu's Fengtian Old Street
Fengtian Old Street in Neipu Township still maintains traditional village life. Several old houses and shops on the street were built during the Japanese colonial period and are characteristic of that ear's integration of Baroque, contemporary art, and Taiwanese red-brick styles. These old buildings and the sunset market together mold a distinct local culture. About 70% of the buildings are historical houses and among the many traditional industries or shops here are old theaters, a blacksmith's, and a rice mill. In recent years, several artists have come here to create paintings and installation pieces.
Chung Li Ho Memorial Museum
Famous Hakka author Mr. Chung was born in 1915 and he lived in this traditional house until he was 18 years old. It was rebuilt by the county government and is now a museum. The design of the museum presents the literary and wealthy background of the family.
Stone Lion
It is said that more than 200 years ago, when the Hakka people began to develop this area, they set up the first stone lion; Hakka people believe the stone lion has considerable power; granting a smooth and peaceful life to the villagers Guangfu Village (formerly known as Daluguan)has three stone lions. Their grand shapes are extremely rare in Taiwan.
Liudui Tianhou Temple
Liudui Tianhou Temple is next to Han Yu's Temple and it was a place where Liudui anti-Japanese volunteers assembled and took vows at the very beginning of the Japanese colonial period. It is Liudui's religious center, where Liudui's oldest Tianhou Temple is located. It also houses the most essential historic documents regarding Liudui's development.
