2015 Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival February - July

The KSAF has been held for six years. Throughout the years, it has attracted various international programs to participate, as well as encouraging local groups to produce premier programs exclusive to Kaohsiung. It has been well-received by the public and accumulated many fans for providing 30 fabulous programs with 80 showings from winter to summer, from February to July.

This year, KSAF’s popular Hollywood in Kaohsiung music concert will continue to present “Comedy Tonight: Hollywood in Kaohsiung” and “World of Adventure: Hollywood in Kaohsiung,” based on international blockbusters, suitable for families of all ages. Movie highlights will be accompanied by a live performance from Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, guaranteed to enchant everyone beneath the stars and on the lawn in Kaohsiung’s exceptional natural environment.

The Kaohsiung-exclusive selected international artists series this year promotes three highlight programs: the premier of “The Suit” by renowned British drama and movie director Peter Brook, the exquisite French Ballet Preljocaj's “Les Nuits” which swept across Europe with its Avant-garde erotic content and the German Familie Flöz’s ”Garage D´Or,” which would rock Taiwan with the comical story of the middle-aged men, as well as various selected works from international arts festivals all over the world!

Other than the beautiful musical pieces performed by Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra, and international renowned musicians, other domestic and local groups will also join the festival events, bringing new performances from Cloud Gate 2, Ju Percussion Group, GuoGuang Opera Company, and others. In addition, we will also be hosting the joint spring performances of the exclusive Taiwanese opera. All the famous performers will be there on the stage, presenting a series of great Taiwanese operas at Kaohsiung City Dadong Arts Center!

This year, the KSAF is divided into the five categories of drama, music, dances, traditional, and opera programs, amounting to approximate 30 great works and programs in total from artists worldwide. The venues include the cultural center, Dadong Arts Center, lake-side lawn of Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, The Pier-2 Art Center B9, and The Library Mini-theatre in the newly opened Kaohsiung Main Public Library. KSAF presents even more performing knowledge resources to the audiences, making the Spring Arts Festival not just a series of performances, but also an artistic journey of enlightenment, knowing the classics, and self-cultivation of the city.
