Kaohsiung Cable-Stayed Bridge
North Dawu Mountain
One of the "Five Mountain of Taiwan" and also known as the geographic mother of Pingtung County, North Dawu Mountain is over 3,000 meters high. Moreover, it is also a scared mountain of the Rukai and Paiwan peoples. Pingtung County Government has adapted the traditional Dawu Mountain Coming of Age Ceremony with a series of outdoor activities to test younsters' stamina and physical strength as well as celebrate their transition from childhood to adulthood.
South Dawu Mountain
The southern part of the mountain embraces a complete range of mountain trails from low to high altitudes, serving as a perfect habitat for wildlife.
Ligang Old Street
Digital image mosaic pavement technology was used on the old street tiles, making the old street with it's characteristic buildings and street snacks more flavorful.
Kaohsiung Cable-Stayed Bridge
Kaohsiung Cable-Stayed Bridge is part of Freeway 3 and crosses the Kaoping River. It's not only the first cable-stayed bridge in Taiwan but also the longest one in Asia.
Ligang Riverside Park
Ligang Riverside Park retains the coconut trees planted by farmers who previously lived here. These coconut trees, a pond and wooden trestle platforms mold a typical tropical scene. Daixing Riverside Garden beside Ligang Riverside Park is an animal garden maintained by local people. The plants along the riverbank are trimmed into various animal shapes, which are vivid, interesting, and creative. Ligang's riverbank along the Ailiao River have been remodeled as cycling routes. Going west leads to Liling Bridge and Jiuru Township; going east leads to Sandimen Township through Yanpu and Neipu.
Shuangci Temple
Founded in the eighth year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1731), Shuangci Temple, whose main gods are Mazu and Guangyin, always has many incense sticks, burning candles, and good attendance. One the left side and right side of the temple are .
Chen Family Ancestral Hall & Old Lan House
Located next to Shuangci Temple, Chen Family Ancestral Hall was originally the temple of the Chen family who were immigrants from Zhangzhou in mainland China. The swallow-tailed cornices and the roof decorated with various Cochin works such as dragons, phoenixes, tigers, flowers, and fruit make this ancestral hall unique and distinct. Located near Ligang Old Street, Old Lan House is over 280 years old. It is associated with Lan Ding-yuan, a famous general who suppressed the Zhu Yi-gui Incident during the reign of Emperor Kangxi, and his elder brother Lan Ting-zhen. This traditional Minnan-style courtyard mansion covers more than 1,000 ping and integrates a Baroque imperial crown-style roof and bears a stucco finish. All of these features tell us how rich and powerful the Lan family was at that time.
Old Xiao House in Chonglan (Chonglan Community)
In the sixth year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1880),Xiao Wei-tien, the ancestor of the Xiao family, crossed the Taiwan Strait and started his life in Taiwan. Xiao opened a company called Zhen Ji which traded in sugar and sand. In order to commemorate this great ancestor, the descendents reconstructed the original building of Zhen Ji and transformed it into the Xiao family temple. In addition to engaging in business, the Xiao family also emphasized education. They established a private school, Ke Yu Xuan, where family members received a Chinese education during the Japanese colonial period. In 2002, the SIao Zhen Ji Foundation for Culture and Arts was established. Since then, the foundation has promoted and participated in community empowerment activities. For example, they have painted the old streets, lanes, and alleys, creating Chonglan 456 Art Lane and vividly activating Chonglan Community.
