The strange-looking badland, Moon World, can be seen in Caoshan in Zuozhen of Tainan City, Neimen, Tianliao and Yanchao of Kaohsiung City. It is comprised of sandstone and shale. When it rains, the earth absorbs the water and becomes muddy, while it turns back into hard stones as the moisture is evaporated. Long been eroded by the rainwater, Caoshan Creek and Ganglin Creek, the Moon World gives cliffs and strange stones, where common plants rarely can survive but thorny bamboo and white popinac. Caoshan Moon World presents a typical badland feature in Taiwan. On the top of 308 Highland, tourists can survey the Moon world.
