Situated by the Green River (Luchuan) close to Taichung Train Station, the Miyahara Eye Clinic was founded by Dr.Miyahara Takekuma during the Japanese colonial era. While the red-brick walls and clinic signage were converted into components of a nostalgic, wooden-roofed arcade, the clinic's high-ceiling interior space now features bookcase-inspired storage cabinets, complete with a library-like classification system to conjure up a magical atmosphere.

The 100-plus year old Taichung Park has long been a landmark of Taichung CIty. In addition to the Taichung Park has long been a landmark of Taichung City. Highlights of the park include an array of spring-flowering trees (cherry, Prunus, peach, apricot and azalea)' a "summer snowfall" created by falling Tung blossom petals; the striking summer blossoms of Indoor azaleas, Bauhinia blakeana and wild peonies; and the colorful autumn foliage of Tung and maple trees that morphs into winter's bleak leafless branches.
