Lin Tien Shan
Lin Tien Shan is known as Hualien's "Little Jinfen." It is a small hill town that became prosperous because of logging in the Japanese colonial era. At it's peak it had a population of around 2000 and was well facilitated: schools, markets, a theatre and a clinic etc. As forestry policy changed, Lin Tien Shan faded and, through community efforts, was given a new lease of life. It is now a park with cafe, a forestry culture exhibition hall, a theatre and a forest railway trail as well as Taiwan's best preserved and most distinctive logging base.
Hongye Hot Springs
Hongye Hot Springs in Wanrong Township ranks alongside Ruishui and Antong Hot springs as one of the three famous hot springs of Hualien. The water is clear and scentless. Hongye Hot Springs Hotel is a Japanese style wooden building that was a high-class hotel in the Japanese colonial era and is one of the few wooden hot springs hotels in Taiwan. The round mosaicked bath has an old-time charm; relaxing physically and mentally in a hot springs bath is one of the best pleasures in life.
